THE GIFT THAT HEALS
Forget the get-well card and send flowers or a potted plant to a sick friend. A new study from Kansas State University found that patients recovering from surgery who had blooms in their hospital room experienced 25 percent less pain than those who didn't. "Being near flowers makes people feel more relaxed ans less stressed," says study author Richard Mattson, PhD. "That in turn, may help boost immune system." And don't forget to give yourself a feel-better gift: The next time you're under the weather, place a bouquet on your bedside table. (Kristen Maxwell)
